Comfortable Prison House for Janet Lim Napoles
« on: August 31, 2013, 09:01:09 AM »
By Saul E. Pa-a

Just as the public eye focused these days on surrendered Janet Lim Napoles who is accused of illegal detention by her former aide, the twist of fate would now be on Napoles’ detention at the police special action forces (SAF) training camp in Fort Santo Domingo located in the Sta. Rosa City upland.

Close to 40 kilometers southeast of Manila enroute to the highlands approaching Tagaytay City, the SAF training camp lies in this highly-secured environment where detainee Napoles will be locked up in a renovated garrison.

In the midst of brouhaha and accusations by various camps on special treatment accorded to Napoles after turning herself in to Presidential officials and surrendered to President Benigno S. Aquino III in Malacañang on Wednesday night, her detention here adds to a list of formerly detained “high profile” prisoners where their safety and security were guaranteed.

Napoles was brought Thursday night to the Makati jail from Camp Crame where she was temporarily under custody after her surrender to President Aquino who personally joined Palace officials in bringing her to the PNP Headquarters in Camp Crame to ensure Napoles’ safety.

Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150 Judge Elmo Alameda issued on Friday the four-page decision ordering the Napoles’ transfer citing “clear danger to her life” from the Makati City Jail to Fort Santo Domingo here.

The regional trial court granted the petition of Napoles’ lawyer Lorna Kapunan for her client’s transfer describing the “high profile detainee” needs a safer jail facility.

Judge Alameda weighed in for the trial court’s decision on the testimony of the Makati City jail warden Fermin Enriquez who told the court on Friday that the Makati prison facility “cannot guarantee the safety, 24/7″ of Napoles.

The Makati prison warden also cited the facility’s lack of personnel to secure a “high-profile” suspect such as Napoles with initially only two female prison guards ensuring her safety in her detention cell with just a handful of Bureau of Jail and Penology (BJMP) armed personnel.

Authorities here believed the training camp specializing in domestic counter terrorism, airtight law enforcement and commando-type raids and unconventional warfare tactics can secure Napoles.

From her much ballyhooed arrest, search and surrender, Napoles’ detention would soon be in this same Special Forces camp where then high-profile prisoners former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada, Zamboanga del Norte Congressman Romeo Jalosjos, MNLF founder and chairman Nur Misuari, Senator Gringo Honasan on rebellion charges for conspiring with the 2003 Oakwood mutineers in Makati’s premiere commercial district.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
