Senior CNT leader yields to 60IB in Davao del Norte
A 63-year-old CPP-NPA Terrorist (CNT) leader surrendered to Army's 60th Infantry Battalion (60IB) of the 10th Infantry Division on March 31, 2022 at Sitio Bagtok, Barangay Gupitan, Kapalong, Davao del Norte.
The surrenderer, identified as alias “Datu Makatindog”, served as the secretary of the weakened Guerilla Front 3, Sub-Regional Committee 4, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee. The former rebel, who fought government forces for 40 years, also served as a plenary member of SMRC. He turned over one M16 rifle with seven loaded magazines upon his surrender.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., commended 60IB troops for facilitating the surrender of Datu Makatindog, with the help of the Davao del Norte provincial government. The Army Chief has cited the importance of pursuing the “whole of nation” approach in solving the root cause of the more than five-decade long insurgency problem.
