COURT trial of the gang rape victim in Maguindanao last year has been delayed since the victim is still recovering from memory loss, said Justice Secretary Leila de Lima.
Florence (not her real name), who was gang-raped in Upi, was discharged from the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) eight months ago.
However, De Lima said they are still waiting for the full recovery of her memory before they can proceed to a court trial.
"We are waiting for the full recovery of Florence. She is in the safe house here in Davao Region. I myself have no idea of where that safe house is. Pero 'yun nga, hirap pa daw siya maka-alala kasi nga grabe naman yung nangyari," De Lima said.
Florence suffered from major injuries and has been paralyzed during her confinement at the SPMC in November 2010.
She added that Florence is now physically stable and is monitored by a psychologist who checks on her condition.
De Lima said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Davao Region are still working on the victim's case and assured her that they will have a report once Florence is fully recovered.
"Kasi hindi pa talaga nahuhuli yung responsible suspect. Well, there's this suspect but may doubt doon. Then yung original suspects the youngsters four or five na dismiss yung kaso nila kasi talaga naman 'di ganun ka sufficient yung evidence," De Lima said, adding that their fight for justice for Florence still continues.
