FDA cites importance of food labeling this Christmas
« on: May 29, 2020, 01:37:10 PM »
KALIBO, Aklan -- The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) here has cited the need for labels especially when buying processed food this Yuletide season.

Mabel Concepcion, FDA senior regulation officer in Western Visayas, said that consumers must always know the origin of the products being bought.

"This way, consumers will know where to go to in case some concerns had been observed from the products bought. For food being sold in the streets, the local government has a hand in ensuring the health safety of every consumer who may patronize such," she told the Philippine News Agency in an interview on Monday.

The Philippine Christmas tradition include food being sold in the streets. This is especially during the nine-day morning mass leading to Christmas day.

Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-Aklan) on Monday held a training for food producers and processors in the province.

The training is to orient food producers on how to be accredited by the FDA. (PNA)
