Budol Budol gang is on the loose in Bicol to loot small business and individual folks with their 'shining' deceit, various police offices warned.
Reports reaching the regional police office said the group has duped at least four persons in Daet town in Camarines Norte.
The notorious gang, known for their modus operandi of deceiving targets with stacks of ordinary papers disguised as bundles of money, had victimized Roderick Dejeto, 19, of Magallanes Iraya village, this town; Raymart Abejo; Zharina Saavedra, 14, student of Vinzons Pilot High School; and Marvin Guelas, 17, student of Lourdes College.
The police said the gang had fooled Dejeto before victimizing the three others.
Investigators said that the elements of the gang had tricked the victims into believing that they (gang members) were looking for a delivery truck to transport their merchandise. After which, another person, who was found out later to be part of the group, approached them and offered help to transport the supposed merchandise.
The gang members, who have not yet been identified, then asked for the victims’ personal belongings, including their mobile phones, in exchange for bundles of money purportedly amounting to P15,000 — supposedly meant as a guarantee.
After they had given some of their personal belongings, the victims said the gang members, acting as if they were real merchants, ran away, leaving behind the “money bags,†which they found out later to be mere stacks of paper. - PNA
