On behalf of the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental, Governor Roel Degamo received the P5.6 million worth of RT-PCR test kits donation from the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) represented by Norreen G. Bautista, EDC’s Corporate Social Responsibility Head, earlier this week.
The said donation will greatly help as well as strengthen the tracing and testing of contacts of confirmed positive cases in the province in an effort to curb the current rise of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases where community transmission is already prevalent provincewide.
Governor Degamo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to EDC for continuously extending assistance and for a being a strong partner to the provincial government in its fight against COVID-19.
The simple turnover was witnessed by Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Liland Estacion and Dr. Rafael Duhaylungsod, EDC-Corporate Social Responsibility for Negros External and Stakeholder Relations Officer.
EDC earlier donated two RT-PCR machines and other equipment to the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital Molecular Laboratory, while the provincial government provided the facility, manpower and other equipment and supplies as counterpart.
Dr. Estacion, also the COVID-19 Ground Commander, urges the public to continue to strictly abide to the minimum public health standards which includes the proper wearing of face masks, face shield (in confined spaces), washing of hands with soap and water or alcohol, in order to stop the transmission of the virus.
