An earthquake of magnitude 3.4 on the Richter scale jolted the province of Aklan, including the capital town of Kalibo, at 2:44 p.m. Friday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Engr. Arlo Sabar of the Phivocs-Aklan said the epicenter of the tremor was traced at 20 kilometers southwest of the capital town of Kalibo at a deep of 2.9 kilometers.
The earthquake of tectonic origin was felt in other municipalities like Libacao with intensity 3, Leo and Malinao, intensity 2, and Banga, intensity 1.
Sabar said the tremor also caused the West Panay fault to shake mildly.
So far, no casualties or damage had been reported in areas hit by the quake. (PNA)
