The city government of Dumaguete has received additional financial assistance for the continuing construction of the Rizal Boulevard boardwalk project, this time from Senator Manuel Villar, according to Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria.
Mayor Sagarbarria on Monday said the city has already received money amounting to P2 million from Senator Villar’s Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), said City Information Officer Steve Gabriel.
The city had earlier solicited more than P10 million in financial assistance from different senators for the massive development of the Rizal Boulevard, especially the construction of the boardwalk.
Last week, Senator Vicente Sotto III gave of P1 million from his PDAF while the other senators who also pitched in include Juan Miguel Zubiri, TG Guingona, Francis Pangilinan, Ralph Recto and Francisco Escudero, said Gabriel.
Mayor Sagarbarria lauded the senators for helping in the city’s development project, especially the boardwalk project which is now in full swing, considering that the Rizal Boulevard is the show window of Dumaguete, the capital city of Negros Oriental.
Meanwhile, Rep. Juan Ponce Enrile, Jr., of the first district of the Cagayan province is scheduled to visit Dumaguete on Thursday.
Enrile is expected to call on Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria prior to his visit from different cities and municipalities in the province.(PNA)
