Dinagyang Festival 2010 in Iloilo Philippines
« on: May 31, 2010, 07:58:06 PM »
The Dinagyang Festival tribe is one of the six groups that will be perform at the Quirino Grandstand during the 2010 Kalayaan Parade slated this coming June 12.

The celebration will “focus on the milestone achievements of the Arroyo administration, specifically on the socio-economic programs that have benefitted millions of Filipinos throughout the country,” said Ludovico Badoy, the chair of the technical working group of the Kalayaan 2010 in his letter to Mayor Jerry P. Trenas.

City Tourism and Development Planning Office head Benito Jimena said the National Historical Commission (NHC) specifically invited the festival champion, Tribu Paghidaet, to perform during the two-hour production “that will feature the country’s leading performing artists and street dance performers from the regions and Manila.”

“I think that’s a recognition that Dinagyang is happy to get; being one of the groups invited to showcase Philippine culture,” Jimena said. - pna
