The number of dengue fever deaths in Negros Oriental has already risen to 10 as of last count, while the total number of dengue cases from January to September 23, this year, has reached 1,214, a report from the Provincial Epidemiology Survey Unit of the Provincial Health Office said.
This year’s number of dengue fever deaths has already doubled from last year’s figures with only five deaths, PESU records showed.
The fatalities include two each from Canlaon City, Vallehermoso and Pamplona, and one each from Guihulngan, Dumaguete, Sibulan and Bacong.
Dumaguete, the capital of Negros Oriental, continues to rank first with the highest number of dengue cases at 308, followed by Sibulan, 133; Bayawan, 112; Bais, 73; Bacong and Vallehermoso, 64 each; Tanjay, 58; Canlaon, 56; Bindoy, 45; and Guihulngan, with 37 cases. (PNA)
