DAR-2 awards farm machineries to farmers in Ballesteros, Cagayan
TUGUEGARAO CITY, July 2 (PNA) -- The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Regional Office 2 recently turned over common service facilities (CSF) to an Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organization (ARBO) in Ballesteros, Cagayan.
Nararagan Valley Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC) received five floating tillers from DAR-2 under its Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS) program.
In her statement, DAR Assistant Regional Director Jessbeth Quidasol said “almost a thousand members of the cooperative will benefit from the project that aims to increase their produce, improve their access to appropriate agricultural technologies, and lessen their farm expenses while enhancing productivity.â€
Apart from Nararagan Valley MPC as the lead ARBO, the Golden Harvest Cluster MPC in Abulug, Cagayan will also benefit from the facilities as a radiating ARBO. Abulug is an adjacent town of Ballesteros.
This means the facilities have a total service area of 1,746 hectares in the two northwestern municipalities of Cagayan.
In 2013, Nararagan Valley MPC had received from DAR-2 farm machineries that include three units of hand tractors with implements and trailer, two units of rice thresher, four units of water pumps and a flatbed dryer.
“The ARBO was able to access the farm machineries from DAR because of its organizational maturity,†Quidasol said. The official also said, “the cooperative is again due to receive a 4WD tractor 35 HP with implements in the next batch of CSF distribution under the ARCCESS program.†(PNA)
