To showcase the rich culture and history of Borongan City, the City Government will hold an Arts Week on June 1-5, 2022 as part of the 2022 Charter Month Celebration.
This event aims to encourage and support the Boronganon art community by providing them a venue to showcase their artwork and participate in tourism development.
Public and private schools, non-government organizations, and civil society groups are invited to plan and register visual arts activities for children and families. These activities give children, young people, and even senior citizens together with their families and friends, the opportunity to take part in multiple art activities with professional artists. The activity will culminate with a painting of the 2-km long seawall of Baybay Boulevard.

Interested groups and individuals are encouraged to join the art workshop headlined by artists well-known for their large outdoor murals. This is led by AG Sano along with Richard Sandigan and Joy Abutan.
AG Saño is a Filipino muralist, conservationist, photographer, landscape architect, and environmental activist best known for numerous prominent advocacy murals along main thoroughfares around Metro Manila.
This workshop is the kickoff activity that aims to consolidate the ideas of participating artists in creating an art theme the will reprsent the city’s vast history and colorful culture while promoting sustainability, inclusivity, and development.

The Arts Week celebration will culminate with the painting of a 100-meter section of the seawall along Baybay Boulevard. This will serve as the template for the rest of the 2-km art walk.
Sectoral organizations, alumni associations, friend groups, and families can sponsor sections of the seawall to be painted with anything that best interprets the theme: “Resilience in Faith.”
With a minimal fee, groups can memorialize their concept interpretations for the whole community to see. They will also be part of the entry that will be submitted to the Guiness Book of World Records for the longest sea wall mural painting in the world.
Upon completion, this newly-opened mural wall is expected to attract local and foreign tourists that will greatly impact the city’s economy.
Interested participants may message our BCIO page for more details on how to join.
