2 NEW CASES OF COVID-19 REPORTED IN TACLOBAN CITY

21 NEW COVID-19 CASES, ONE (1) DEATH, AND  52 NEW RECOVERIES RECORDED TODAY
 
As of  7 AM today, March 20, 2021, the Department of Health- Eastern Visayas reports the region’s total number of COVID-19 cases at 16,224, total recoveries at 15,660 (96.52%)  and total deaths at 240 (1.48%). This brings the total active cases to 324 (2.00%).

A total of 21 new cases were recorded out of 494 laboratory samples tested in the three (3) COVID-19 laboratories in the region, the EVRCTC, DWHVL, and the Ormoc Molecular Diagnostic Center. This represents 4.25% positivity rate.

The EVRCTC has released a total of 317 laboratory results. Of these, 310 are negative and  7 are positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the DWHVL has released a total of 154 laboratory results. Of these, 139 are negative and 15 are positive (with 10 new cases and 5 re-swabs) for COVID-19.

The Ormoc Molecular Diagnostic Center has released also a total of 23 laboratory results with 19 negative and 4 positive for COVID-19.

The 21 new confirmed cases are  from the following provinces/cities/municipalities:

LEYTE (9)
Abuyog – 1
Kananga – 1
Palo – 2
Palompon – 3
Tabango – 1
Villaba – 1

SOUTHERN LEYTE (4)
Libagon – 1
Maasin City – 2
San Francisco – 1

EASTERN SAMAR (1)
     Borongan City – 1 (Close Contact)

SAMAR (1)
Calbayog – 1

BILIRAN (1)
Naval – 1

Other details will be provided by the concerned LGU.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 related death recorded today is the following:
EV-14437 – a 34-year old male, from Palo, Leyte, who died on March 19, 2021.

There  was one (1) case from Baybay City that was previously tagged as new case  but is now reclassified as re-swab upon verification.  Hence the adjustment of the total case count.
