The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Eastern Visayas is looking into the
allegations of anomalies in the P30-million infrastructure projects of a state university in
Eastern Samar.
NBI Eastern Visayas regional director Antonio Pagatpat said on Tuesday that the projects under investigation involved six buildings of the Eastern Samar State University (ESSU).
The questioned projects included the construction of the library building, the food and technology laboratory building and the Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) building, the renovation of the homemaking, Bagong Lipunan and Academic building and the repair of the college and the academic buildings of the Eastern Samar State University.
Pagatpat said the projects had an aggregate cost of P30 million and was funded by the pork barrel of Eastern Samar Rep. Teodolo Coquilla.
However, he clarified that Coquilla was not under investigation since the complaint filed by the Eastern Visayas Regional Contractors Association questioned only the projects implemented by the school.
Pagatpat said that his office received an order from their central office directing his office to investigate the anomalies alleged by the group of contractors.
