BAGUIO CITY— Cordillera Administrative Region's (CAR) best products that include wood and bamboo-based items, hand woven products, housewares, jewelry, and other ideal Christmas gifts are presently on display at the Carousel Court in Festival Supermall, Alabang for the 2017 “IMPAKABSAT” regional trade fair.
IMPAKABSAT is a coined name out of the first letters of the Cordillera provinces- Ifugao, Mountain Province, Abra, Kalinga, Apayao, Baguio and Benguet added with the Ilocano word “kabsat,” which means brotherhood.
The trade fair will run until November 26.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Cordillera Information Officer Joel Arthur Tibaldo said all products on display are Cordillera-made and with new items that were skillfully made to adapt to style and enhanced by experts.
IMPAKABSAT was started in 1991 following the 1990 killer quake that hit Baguio and the rest of Northern Luzon to boost the economic activity of the region. Since then, it has become the most awaited trade fair in the National Capital Region that showcases the region’s best products.
Tibaldo said that in this year’s event, they are hoping to surpass the sales recorded in 2016 in the amount of PHP55 million.
He invited buyers to take advantage of the event and see the Cordillera region’s best products at good prices, as part of their holiday shopping. (PNA) NOVEMBER 2017
