The Provincial Cooperative and Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCEDO) has lined-up various capability building activities on cooperative development as it seeks to fully empower the 200 existing cooperatives in Pampanga.
PCEDO Head Mamerto Gatus said that his office, in close coordination with the Provincial Cooperative Development Council (PCDC), will be conducting four seminars on cooperative development from September to December this year.
“The PCDC officers, with Juanito Mercado of Apung Monica de Minalin multi-purpose cooperative as chairperson, have been very active and committed in the pursuit of projects and activities designed to empower the cooperatives in the province,†Gatus said.
The PCEDO is scheduled to conduct a cooperative governance and management seminar this month, policy development seminar in October, strategic planning in November and parliamentary procedures in December.
“Through these capability building activities, we envision that our cooperatives will be fully knowledgeable and adept in managing their respective organizations,†he said.
Aside from the conduct of seminars, the PCEDO and PCDC are planning to produce a manual which would document success stories of cooperatives in the province and would serve as guide and inspiration to other organizations. - PNA
