Comelec issues last call for registrants
« on: May 29, 2020, 01:36:59 AM »
LAOAG CITY – Commission on Elections (Comelec) offices in Ilocos Norte are open to accommodate registrants until 5 p.m. on Thursday, being the last day of voters’ registration for next year’s barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.

Tessie Diego, Comelec-Ilocos Norte assistant provincial election supervisor, said that they have not received any advisory on whether or not the voters' registration would be extended.

She said only a few registrants have so far come to the office on Thursday, which is Bonifacio Day.

Diego reported that since Comelec resumed voters' registration on Nov. 6, about 4,109 people registered in the entire province.

Pursuant to Resolution No. 10214 which approved the postponement of the synchronized Barangay and SK elections from October 2017 to May 2018, Comelec-Ilocos Norte conducted satellite or offsite registration of voters in villages and schools.

SK voters must be 15 to 30 years old to register while regular voters must be 18 years old before May 14, 2018. (PNA)
