Classes cancelled in parts of Laoag for ASEAN forum
« on: May 29, 2020, 01:55:23 PM »
LAOAG CITY—As part of an intensified security protocol, classes were cancelled in parts of Laoag where delegates of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) are expected to pass by along the Laoag International Airport road to Gabu and Paoay.

Thru an Executive Order signed by Ilocos Norte Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa Marcos on December 3, she ordered the cancellation of classes for Balacad Elementary School and the Balatong Elementary school, including pre-schools along the airport road on Dec. 4 and 8.

Motorists passing through established checkpoints within this area are also advised to bring with them pertinent documents such as driver’s license, OR/CR, etc. for security purposes.

Around 150 ASEAN delegates are in the province this week to attend a forum on urban resilience to climate change and disaster risk reduction and management strategies.

The delegates started to arrive at the Laoag airport on Sunday evening and today, December 4. (PNA)
