Central Luzon cops warned vs. indiscriminate firing

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- Police personnel in Central Luzon have been strictly warned against indiscriminate firing of guns this holiday season.

"Police who will be caught firing their weapons indiscriminately during the long holidays will not be exempted from arrest," Chief Superintendent Amador V. Corpus, the head of the Police Regional Office 3, said.

Corpus likewise ordered the entire Central Luzon police force to crack down on those who will indiscriminately fire their guns.

"These include our own men, our brothers in the military, security guards, and civilian firearm holders. Those caught firing their firearms indiscriminately to welcome Christmas and the New Year will be arrested and charged as well as the immediate relief from post of their respective chiefs of police," he said.

On the other hand, the annual sealing of gun muzzles of police personnel was foregone as ordered by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa.

Meanwhile, in support to the “Oplan: IwasPaputok, Fireworks Display ang Patok! Makiisa Fireworks Display sa Inyong Lugar” of the Department of Health, Corpus ordered the Police Regional Office 3 as well as the different provincial/city police offices all over the region to coordinate with their barangay officials for the establishment of common firecracker zones in their areas.

"We continue to conduct series of inspections among firecracker stores within the region to prevent the selling of prohibited firecrackers which pose danger to the public,” he said.

Corpus also asked the public to be extra cautious so as not to be victimized by lawless elements.

“We will intensify our efforts to prevent any unscrupulous activities to take place so that all may enjoy the festivities,” he said. (PNA) DECEMBER 2017
