A total of 54 election officers (EOs) of the towns and cities in Cebu will undergo training on poll automation this week as part of their preparations for the May 10 elections.
Cebu City’s poll offices will also start training next week the 3,200 public school teachers who will serve as chairperson and members of the board of election inspectors (BEIs) and support staff.
Cebu City north district election officer lawyer Marchel Sarno said that although the training this week is one month behind the original schedule, it is not too late to train the poll officials.
They will be trained in using the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machine and other gadgets that will be used in the voting and transmission process.
The training for the local Commission on Elections (Comelec) officials will start on Friday and will run until February 25.
Comelec 7 Director Ray Rene Buac, assistant director Veronico Petalcorin and Cebu Provincial Election Supervisor Lionel Castillano will facilitate the EO’s training.
â€They have been trained in Manila so they will be the ones to train us on the poll automation. We, in turn, will train all the teachers who were identified to serve in the election on May 10,†Sarno said.
