Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia’s infrastructure projects have reached P4.428 billion as of January 31, more than six years since she was first elected to Capitol’s top post.
These locally-funded projects include roads, drainages, bridges, ports, buildings, water-works and heritage parks.
A summary of infrastructure projects 2005-2010 of the Cebu Provincial Engineers Office stated that P4.43 million was allocated for Capitol’s vertical and horizontal infrastructure projects.
Road projects, of which 763.3 kilometers in total were concreted and asphalted, had the biggest allocation of P2.62 billion.
This was followed by “other building improvements and construction,†involving nine units, with a total project cost of P849.36 million.
Hospital construction, rehabilitation and improvement had the third biggest project cost at P317.04 million.
School building construction and repair followed at P304.930 million, some P303.988 million of which was used for the construction of 429 units of two-classroom buildings.
Bridges and ports construction and reconstruction involving 769 sections amounted to P211.06 million.
Heritage and parks had a total project cost of P2.67 million. The projects were implemented in the towns of Oslob, Boljoon, Samboan, Alegria, Dumanjug and Borbon. (PNA)
