BPLO LEADS INSPECTION OF BUSINESS PERMITS COMPLIANCE
Press Release - BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar, April 07, 2021 (BCIO) - Two months after the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) opened for this year’s renewal of business permits, a joint inspection team headed by the same office have begun.
This is to ensure compliance of business establishments in the city of all business owners and operators.
Mr. Cheyney Ibarbia, BPLO head, said that it is important to check on the obedience of business operators because it is the mandate of the law.
“During our rounds, we check on the establishments’ continuing compliance to health and safety standards, or, if they abide by the laws, rules and regulations. We also see to it, that the business establishment is paying the right taxes due them,” Mr. Ibarbia said.
The inspection is based on Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular No 2016-01 which mandates the conduct of business establishments’ inspection.
The team is composed of representatives from the office of Bureau of Fire Protection(BFP), City Building Official, City Treasurer and Sanitary Inspector.
Ibarbia pointed out that any business establishment caught to be non-compliant, will mean closure of their business establishment.
However, to prevent such harsh action, City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan C. Agda plans to facilitate the licensing service and make it available in barangays next year, it was learned.
“BPLO, just like the Assessor’s Office, Civil Registry and Health will go down to barangays where our services are needed, in order to ease up the worries of business operators in coming to the City Hall,” Mr. Ibarbia stressed.
“This is also one way to zero-in certain reasons or perhaps, alibis for not obtaining business permits, land titles, and birth registrations,” he added.
The team has so far visited some northern barangays and for the month of April, the barangays in downtown area are the target areas to be inspected next. #
