Two passengers, a man and a woman, died on the spot while 37 others were injured Saturday night when the bus they were riding in, smashed into trees in Barangay (village) Sibujo in Libmanan, Camarines Sur, a report from the Libmanan town police said Sunday.
Police said the southbound Raymond Bus was negotiating a curve in a portion of the Maharlika Highway when it experienced a mechanical problem, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle at around 9:30 p.m. and sent the bus crashing into two acacia trees along the highway.
The identities of the reported fatalities were still being withheld pending notification of their immediate families.
The injured, which included the bus driver, were brought to the Mother Seton Hospital and the Bicol Medical Center in Naga City, where they underwent treatment.
