Governor Lilia Pineda on Wednesday led the turnover of the 64 units of bunkhouses to landslide victims in Barangay San Juan Bano in this town.
The construction of the bunkhouses was funded by the Pampanga provincial government while Third District Rep. Aurelio “Dong†Gonzales purchased the lot for the victims upon the initiative of the concerned local government officials.
I saw your (landslide victims) situation while living in the tents and dilapidated building. That’s why, I, together with other local officials, tried to build these bunkhouses as soon as possible, the governor said.
It can be noted that the groundbreaking ceremony was held last September 26 and in less three months, all 64 units of bunkhouses were erected.
The provincial government spent more than P5.7 million in the construction of the bunkhouses and Rep. Gonzales, on the other hand, gave P1.5 million for the lot.
"This is a dream come true. I thought I am going to die without any permanent place to live in following the destruction of our house due to landslide last year. But through your help, we now have our own home, Bernabe Parel, 65, resident beneficiary, narrated. - pna
