Sixty selected policemen on Tuesday started their 49-day of rigid training on guerrilla warfare and special operations as part of the PNP modified Special Counter-Insurgency Unit Training II (PNP-SCOUT II).
Armed to the teeth and wearing camouflage uniforms, the 60 policemen will undergo immediate action drills and field training exercises on different kinds of terrain for 49 days, according to Bulacan police director Senior Supt. Fernando Villanueva.
Villanueva said the special training course was made possible through the support of the provincial government of Bulacan headed by Gov. Wilhelmino Sy Alvarado and the Police Regional Office 3 under police regional director Chief Supt. Allan Purisima.
Alvarado, who was the guest of honor and speaker on the opening day of PNP modified SCOUT II, urged the trainees to train hard and dedicate themselves in serving and protecting the people not only of Bulacan but the whole country as well.
The governor also reminded the police trainees that the preservation and the protection of the rights of man are the twin tasks to which they must always strive and be committed not only for the duration of their stay in service but for the rest of their lives as protectors of the Filipino people.
“Your training, difficult and nerve wracking as it may seem, does not you the right not the privilege to trample upon the rights of the individual,†he said.
Sr. Supt. Melchor Reyes, chief of the RPHRDD of PRO 3, said these selected PNP “warriors†will be trained to ensure that peace and order is maintained throughout their assigned territories and as a well-trained protector of the people. (PNA)
