Smoking and littering are prohibited on all beaches here.According to Mayor John Yap of Malay town,
violators will be fined P500.
Specifically, the prohibition on littering is embodied in Malay’s Anti-Littering Ordinance No. 100 Series of 2009.
Yap said they have already launched the information campaign regarding the prohibition, which was participated by residents, tourists and business organizations in this resort island.
"Streamers and posters are now posted in several areas all over the resort island as part of the ‘For Boracay I Will’ campaign," said the mayor.
‘For Boracay I Will’ aims to encourage tourists and residents to promote cleanliness here.
At least 20 municipal auxiliary policemen were detailed to monitor residents and tourists who may be violating the prohibition.
