Students from Balangbalang National High School, Remedios T. Romualdez, Agusan del Norte were elated to learn the approach that analyzes field situations with regard to pests, soil conditions, plant health, water management, and the influence of climatic factors, also known as Agro-Ecosystem Analysis (AESA). They were directed to the rice field and instructed to record their observations and collect data such as insect populations, abundance of weeds, agronomic data, weather conditions, water and nutrient management.
Apple Mae L. Vitor, a student from Balangbalang, said “AESA is such a critical analysis that needs a thorough observation of field situations, including plant health and pests but it will help us make appropriate decisions on management practices.” This activity aims to enhance the readiness of students and empower them with the latest information and practices in rice integrated crop management (RICM) and related fields.
