RAPE charges have been filed against a retired policeman before the Regional Trial Court in Davao City for allegedly molesting his live-in partner's 11-year-old daughter in several occasions.
Prosecutor Lady Juris Ratunil-Zozobrado on February 24 recommended the filing of two counts of rape against Alfredo P. Lanuza, of SIR Matina, based on the affidavit of the victim.
In her affidavit, Julie (not her true name), said that when she was just five years old, Lanuza started molesting her. Julie did not inform her mother about the incident because she was threatened by the accused.
Julie alleged that Lanuza first abused her sexually when she was just in grade four. This was followed, she said, when she was already in fifth grade, in June of 2010.
When she could no longer take alleged abuses of Lanuza, she told her friend Jun (real name withheld) about her ordeal.
In his counter-affidavit, Lanuza belied allegations hurled against him. He said he has no relationship with Julie's mother nor the latter is his live-in partner.
Lazuna said Julie and Jun only fabricated all the stories against him, adding that Julie only wanted to destroy his reputation. (Jereco O. Paloma)
