Bacolod City has achieved a universal coverage for its indigent families, a recognition that was revealed during Wednesday’s 15th anniversary of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (Philhealth) here.
The city government received a plaque from the Philhealth for achieving a universal coverage and in providing the constituents access to quality health care services.
The plaque of recognition and a capitation of P740, 000 were awarded to Mayor Evelio Leonardia by Bacolod Philhealth officer-in-charge Vicel Bracamonte.
Bracamonte said that nationwide, PhilHealth reached 130 percent of its coverage in the highly urbanized city, including Bacolod City.
In Bacolod, Philhealth identified almost 10,000 to 15,000 indigent families.
Bracamonte said that the program of PhilHealh would have not been possible without the strong support coming from the local government units.
Bracamonte lauded the city government for its support to the program.
Leonardia said the P740, 000 capitation will be used for the improvement of city health facilities and medicines for better health care services. (PNA)
