Through the efforts of the City Government of Maasin, headed by our City Mayor Nacional V. Mercado, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Southern Leyte, led by Gov. Damian Mercado, Congressman Roger Mercado and DOLE Secretary Bebot Bello, the parents of child laborers from the following barangays, namely: (a) Brgy. Combado, (b) Brgy. Bato I, and (c) Brgy. Bato II, received tools and jigs today, March 24, 2021 at the Maasin City Gym.

Likewise, the following barangays received the Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Checks:
a. Brgy. San Rafael – rep. by Hon. Danilo Dueñas with a total amount of Php 123,500.00 for the 38 beneficiaries;
b. Brgy. Rizal – rep. by Hon. Junicio Lagutlo with a total amount of Php 65,000.00 for the 20 beneficiaries;
c. Brgy. Laboon – rep. by Hon. Norma Adobas with a total amount of Php 65,000.00 for the 20 beneficiaries; and
d. Brgy. Nasaug – rep. by Hon. Cesar Costillas with a total amount of Php 162,500.00 for the 50 beneficiaries.

Present throughout the event were Henry John Jalbuena – Regional VIII Director of DOLE, Norman Victor Ordiz – Provincial PESO Manager, Rey Francis Tan - PESO Manager, Dahlia Aseo-Gabriana - LEO II, and Maritez Z. Viñas – Chief LEO, DOLE SLFO.
