KIDAPAWAN CITY - Ubay-ubay na nga mga tinun-an ang nahiling sa mga doktor nga nakitaan ug mga sinyales nga dunay Chikungunya sugod pa niadtong adlaw nga Lunes didto sa probinsiya sa Cotabato.

Nasayran gikan sa Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) sa North Cotabato nga moabot na sa 117 ka magtutungha sa Nuevabida National High School (NNHS) didto sa Barangay Nuevabida, M'lang, dunay timailhan sa Chikungunya.

Matud ni Rolando Buenaflor, principal sa NNHS nga kasagaran sa mga tinun-an nakasinati ug taas nga kalintura, pagpanakit sa tibuok lawas ug pagpamula sa panit.

Tungod niini, daghan kanila ang wala na makatungha human nga gidid-an sila sa ilang ginikanan sa kabalaka nga matakdan sa maong sakit.

Padayon nang gisusi sa mga personahe sa Regional Epidemiology and Srveillance Unit (Resu), uban ang mga sakop sa IPHO-NorCot ang mga biktima.

Chikungunya (in the Makonde language "that which bends up") virus (CHIKV) is an arthropod-borne virus, of the genus Alphavirus, that is transmitted to humans by virus-carrying Aedes mosquitoes. There have been recent breakouts of CHIKV associated with severe illness.
CHIKV infection causes an illness with symptoms similar to dengue fever, with an acute febrile phase of the illness lasting only two to five days, followed by a prolonged arthralgic disease that affects the joints of the extremities. The pain associated with CHIKV infection of the joints persists for weeks or months, or in some cases years. --Wiki
