Another suspect in the Maguindanao massacre was arrested by police in a remote village in North Cotabato, police said.
Chief Supt. Bienvenido Latag, police director in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, identified the suspect as Manny Ampatuan, a close relative of principal suspect Andal Ampatuan Jr.
Latag said Ampatuan was arrested before dawn Wednesday in sub-village Barte, Barangay Capayuran, Pigcawayan, North Cotabato by elements of Pigcawayan PNP, North Cotabato PNP and operatives of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in the ARMM at about 4:45 a.m.
He was the 82nd suspect charged before the sala of Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221.
Ampatuan carries a P250,000 bounty for his arrest because of his alleged involvement in the mass killing of at least 58 persons, including 30 journalists.
He was taken into custody by the CIDG-ARMM and later flown to Manila for his detention in Taguig Rehabilitation Center. - pna
