LEGAZPI CITY , Jan. 6 (PNA) – Members of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) in Bicol region are still on alert due to the radical weather condition here, according to Office of Civil Defense (OCD) director Rafel Alejandro.
He said that all units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines based in Bicol region as well as the local government units and national government agencies have utilized all their resources to make sure the safety of constituents in the flood, landslide and lahar prone areas.
“The continuous heavy rain prompted us to secure threatened population from floods and landslides specially in the province of Albay with the highest number of evacuated families affected by bad weather condition since December 24,†Alejandro said.
Albay governor and Regional Development Council (RDC) chairman Joey Salceda has deputized the Philippine Nay, Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police to facilitate the relief and rescue operations.
“We will allow decampment on Monday, January 10, however, since there will be an expected rains from moderate to heavy by Wednesday next week we will again order for the evacuation,†he said.
