The Philippine National Police in Dumaguete recovered on Wednesday several stolen laptop computers during follow-up operations after the arrest of a suspected member of the so-called “Akyat Bahay†gang last Saturday.
Dumaguete City OIC police chief Sr. Insp. Eduardo Oira identified the suspect as Jeffrey Temblor, 21 years old, single, jobless, from Sta. Agueda, Pamplona town in Negros Oriental, about an hour’s drive north of this capital.
Oira said barangay tanods in Motong apprehended Temblor at dawn on Saturday after seeing him with suspected stolen electrical materials and carpentry tools.
Follow-up investigation led intelligence operatives of the city police to stumble upon the operation of an “Akyat Bahay†gang that specializes in laptops and expensive mobile phones, Oira said.
Recovered from the possession of Temblor were five different brands of laptop computers and cellphones.
In an interview, Temblor said that a number of them have been disposed of by selling them at a very cheap price of P2,000 to P4,000 per unit.
Temblor claimed that he had an accomplice whom he identified as a certain Loliboy Delin, a resident of Sitio Dapdap, Barangay Bagacay in Dumaguete, who denied the accusations. (PNA)
