PNA - The Department of Agriculture (DA) Davao recently turned over P1 million check to Tagum City government for operational fund and purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment in this province.
DA Regional Executive Director Oscar O. Parawan said aside from the cash grant, the DA also turned over an agricultural farm tractor worth to P1.2 million acquired through a 50:50 counter-parting scheme.
Parawan said the fund is part of Agri Pinoy's Food Security and Self-Sufficiency Program bannered by President Benigno Aquino III and Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala.
In behalf of Tagum City Mayor Rey T. Uy, City Councilor Caasi thanked DA for the donation that will benefit farmers and fisher folks in the city.
Meanwhile, Parawan said DA will officially turnover a Blast Freeze, a quick-freezing machine worth P4 million also to this province next week.
The machine will be able to freeze meat, vegetable and other agricultural products in an instant, he added. (PNA)
