Abandoned Children in Ilocos Increasing
« on: August 13, 2010, 08:41:39 AM »
Social workers of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) expressed alarm over the continuing increase in the number of abandoned children in Ilocos region.

Jocelyn Mariano, the focal person of DSWD Region 1, said that at least 108 abandoned children were now under the custody of the agency since January to August this year.

“At 108, it is higher from the recorded number of abandoned children for the same period last year,” she said.

Mariano said that most of the abandoned children were illegitimate and offspring of Guest Relation Officer (GRO).

She said that one of the causes of child abandonment was the inability of the mother to sustain the child due to poverty. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
