Members of the notorious 'Gapos Gang', tagged as responsible for series of robbery incidents in Laguna, were arrested in a police operation conducted on Monday in Nagcarlan town.
Newly-installed Police Regional Office 4 (PRO4) director Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao Jr. identified the suspects as Dave Ragas, 27, single, jobless, a native of General Santos City; Rommel Calma, 31, married, a pedicab driver, both residents of Sta. Cruz, Laguna; Richard Pasamba, 28, a construction worker and a resident of Sta. Cruz, Laguna; and Adan Ocampo, 29, a native of Valenzuela City and a resident of San Pablo City.
Pagdilao said Calma and Ragas were captured during follow-up operations by the Laguna Provincial Police Office (PPO), led by Sr. Supt. Gilbert Cruz, in Barangay Malaya, Nagcarlan town at about 8 p.m. Monday.
Cruz said the suspects, both armed with short firearms, were tagged as responsible in robbing the residence of Eladio Doria, 50, in Barangay Abo, also in Nagcarlan town Monday.
Cruz said the suspects forcibly entered the Doria residence and hogtied Doria and his family and took turns in carting away valuable items then fled away.
Cruz, however, said that elements of Nagcarlan municipal police immediately conducted hot pursuit operation that resulted in the arrest of Calma and Ragas, who yielded one caliber .38 revolver, .357 cal. revolver with 14 live ammunition, one caliber .45 Colt with magazine loaded with seven ammunition.
The suspects also yielded a red and black Honda motorcycle bearing plate number 3688, a black and blue Honda motorcycle with lost plate marking, cash money amounting to P 1,670, one Nokia cellphone, two fancy necklace, a fancy bracelet and a ring.
Investigation showed that Ragas and Calma were the same suspects who robbed former Barangay Chairman Ricardo Ortega of Barangay Balimbing, Nagcarlan, Laguna last Oct. 7.
Follow-up operation led to the arrest of Pasamba and Ocampo. Confiscated from the suspects were a caliber .38 revolver with serial number 61871 with six live ammunitions, one apple type hand grenade and one kitchen knife.
