LAOAG CITY — At least six secondary schools in Ilocos Norte offering elective subjects on food and beverage, bread and pastry making and cookery have entered into a memorandum of agreement with two giant food chains in this city for the students’ immersion program.

These schools are the Sacritan Integrated School in Pinili; Adriano P. Arzadon National High School in Nueva Era, Sarrat National High School, Nagrebcan National High School in Badoc, Pagsanahan National High School in Badoc, and the Cadaratan National High School in Bacarra.

George Emman Manuel, Project Development Officer II of the Schools Division of Ilocos Norte, said Thursday that under the agreement with McDonald’s and Max’s Restaurant, senior high school students taking up elective subjects shall render a total of 80 hours restaurant-related services as part of their hands-on training program.

Manuel said the school-industry partnership is necessary to effectively deliver Senior High School instructions to be applied immediately in proper venue and practical expertise.

Earlier, the Schools Division of Ilocos Norte represented by Superintendent Vilma Eda signed the memorandum of agreement with McDonald’s represented by Gloria Paraiso, in-charge of the Human Resource Business Partner and Cristina Sebastian, restaurant manager.

Manuel added that the work immersion partnership is a part of the private companies’ corporate social responsibility to create a positive impact on the young people in the community. (PNA)
