BACOLOD CITY -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will open two more Negosyo Centers in Negros Occidental this year.

Lea Gonzales, provincial director of DTI-Negros Occidental, said Tuesday the agency would unveil its Negosyo Centers in La Castellana and Hinoba-an on Nov. 24 and Dec. 12, respectively.

These will be the sixth and seventh centers to be opened in the province this year. The other five are in Cauayan, EB Magalona, Himamaylan, Bago City, and Sipalay City.
Others that opened last year are those in Hinigaran town and the cities of Bacolod, San Carlos, Victorias, and La Carlota.
The Negros First Negosyo Center at the Provincial Capitol Complex in Bacolod City was opened in 2015, along with those in the cities of Kabankalan and Sagay.

Gonzales said the DTI targets to open 10 more centers in the province next year, but the host local government units (LGUs) have yet to be identified.

“We are still going to assess which towns or cities are ready to give us the space,” Gonzales said, adding that the agency aims to eventually saturate all LGUs in the province.
The establishment of Negosyo Centers is provided under the Republic Act No. 10644, or the Go Negosyo Act.
It provides micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) ease of doing business, and facilitates access to grants and other forms of financial assistance, and shared service facilities (SSF), among others.

Negosyo Centers also provide services, such as business registration, training courses for MSMEs, and business consultancy.

The law aims to ensure management guidance, assistance and improvement of the working conditions of enterprises, and facilitate market access and linkaging services for entrepreneurs.

Gonzales said that with more Negosyo Centers in the province, more enterprises could avail of the services offered by the government, particularly the DTI.

“We are looking at developing more competent MSMEs in the province, especially those in the informal sector, and help small businesses create more employment in their locality,” she added. (PNA) NOVEMBER 2017
