Three Filipinos were linked to the killing of two Koreans, who were dumped in sitio Tres, barangay Uling, Naga, Cebu on Nov. 15.
Chief Supt. Lani-O Nerez, police director for Central Visayas, said the three Filipinos were identified by witnesses as among those who participated in the killing of Choi Ho Jun, 41 and Yang Soon Suk, 40.
Nerez declined to name the perpetrators pending the issuance of an arrest warrant by the court.
He said the Filipino accomplices, who remained at large, were still in Cebu province.
Nerez said the motive in the killing was money.
Police investigation showed that Choi and Yang, allegedly attempted to blackmail suspect Park Tae Sung, who had a pending swindling case in South Korea.
Park had fled to Cebu allegedly to escape his case in South Korea.
Last May, the victims arrived and allegedly met with Park.
Their bodies were later found in Naga City with stab and gunshot wounds. Choi’s throat was also slit.
Park fled after the killing but was arrested in Macau by the Hong Kong police.
Nerez said Park would be brought to South Korea to face the swindling case before he would be sent to Cebu to face the double murder charges filed against him and four other suspects.
“There’s a big possibility that his Korean business partner will be brought back here if he has no pending cases in South Korea),†Nerez said.- Correspondent Jucelle Marie P. Cuyos, Cebu Daily News
