NOVEMBER 2017 CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga --The city government distributed financial assistance to the first batch of beneficiaries under the city's high school subsidy program on Sunday.
Mayor Edwin Santiago, on Monday, said that PHP2,000 cash allowance was given to each beneficiary. He noted that more than 2,500 junior high school students benefited from the initial distribution, all bonafide residents of the city.
“A school-based assessment was conducted in cooperation with the Department of Education. We looked for all Fernandino youths who are presently enrolled in Grade 10 in all public schools in the city and nearby towns," he said.
To qualify for the program, the students were only required to submit their identification cards, 2x2 pictures, birth certificates, and voter’s ID of their parents.
“This is a continuing program of the local government for the youth because once they enter into college, there is an educational scholarship assistance program waiting for them or they can also study for free in our city college," the mayor said.
Meanwhile, the last awarding of subsidies will be on November 25 at the Heroes Hall Mini Convention Center here. (PNA)
