CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – The regional official of the Department of Tourism (DOT) in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon provinces) has commended the first and biggest travel and tour sale in Quezon province, staged at SM Lucena City over the weekend.

DOT Calabarzon Regional Director Rebecca Villanueva Labit commended on Monday the partnership and collaboration of the private and government sectors and various stakeholders in promoting the tourism industry of the province through their “Quezon Travel Mart, Biyahe Kita” first major undertaking.

Labit said “the active partnership of the private and government sectors will eventually lead to the recognition of more interesting places in the province especially among local government units (LGUs) which offer their vast tourism potential.”

The Quezon public information office said that around 30 travel agencies and other organizations engaged in tourism promotion in the province participated in the event organized by the DOT, Provincial Tourism Office of Quezon, Tourism Organization of Quezon Province-Philippines Inc (TOQPPI) and the provincial government.

The travel mart and tour sale from Nov. 17 to 18 offered travel promos and discounts for domestic and international travel packages.

Alfonso Rafael Ranido, TOQPPI president, stressed the significance of the two-day event as eye-openers for tourists, visitors and vacationers in discovering the “wonderful places in the province” including their exposures and experience on the culture and people to promote the province as a major tourist destination.
