DAVAO CITY -- The Regional Civil and Security Unit (RCSU) revealed there are over 11,000 firearms in Davao Region that have expired licenses and owners had only until November 30, 2017 to renew their License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) or these will be declared loose firearms.

The Regional Civil and Security Unit (RCSU) listed 4,163 unregistyered firearms in Davao del Norte; 2,458 in Compostela Valley province; 1,351 in Davao Oriental; and, 3,069 in Davao Del Sur including Davao City.

Tamayo said the numbe has gone up due to several requirements for gun license.

He called on the gun owners to renew their licenses through online.
Supt. Cydric Earl Tamayo, chief of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 1I- Civil Security Unit (CSU), told reporters in Wednesday’s AFP-PNP press forum at the Royal Mandaya Hotel, that there are only 300 owners who renewed their licenses in the region.

The requirements for applying LTOPF are clearances from the National Bureau of Investigation or the Regional Trial Court, police and barangay, proofs of billing, and valid IDs.

He said the purpose of the barangay clearance is for the office to know that a gun owner is really a resident of the area and to identify the person.

Tamayo said payment depends on types of licensee: Type 1 for two gun has corresponding fee of P1,000; Type 2 (P2,000) for five firearms; Type 3 (P3,000) for 10 firerams, and Type 4 (P4,000) for 20 firearms. The gun collectors, sports shooter pay P 5,000 and additional P1,000 payment for sports shooter. The fees are paid to Landbank.

Tamayo said the online application or renewal of the License To Own and Possess (LTOP) firearms was launched only last Monday.

This gives gun owners the opportunity to transact online if they want to apply for a license to possess firearms.

With the online application, the RCSU XI hopes it will encourage gun owners to apply for a license to possess firearms or renew their licenses.

For those who want to inquire about requirements, they can view the facebook account of RCSU at Csg Rcsu Onse or email at [email protected]. (Lilian C. Mellejor and Rhoda Grace Saron/PNA)
