Seven persons were killed while three others were injured critically after a 10-wheeler truck loaded with Falcata logs rammed into houses and a store along the national highway in Barangay 4, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur Thursday afternoon.
Reports said the truck was running at a medium speed when the accident occurred near the Davao Central Warehouse Store in San Francisco, one of the biggest towns in Agusan del Sur.
San Francisco Police Chief Inspector Floriano Ravelo said those who died in the mishap were Faustino Doce, 62, owner of the store; Samuel Arayan, 31, security guard of the Davao Central Warehouse-San Francisco branch; Danilo Suan, 55, of Barangay Alegria, also in San Francisco; and four others whose names were not immediately available.
Doce died on the spot while Arayan and Suan were pronounced dead at D.O. Plaza Memorial Hospital in Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.
Police said the number of dead in the incident rose to seven after four of those initially injured critically and brought first to D.O. Plaza Memorial Hospital died in the other hospitals in Butuan and Davao cities where they were transferred.
Ravelo said they did not have the names of those who died in the hospitals where they were brought as they relied on the reports from their relatives.
