Photo exhibit opens in Maribojoc, Bohol

The exhibit entitled “Hidden Treasures: An Exhibit of Spanish-era Churches in the
Philippines” was launched last August 23 at the municipal hall of Maribojoc, Bohol. It will
stay in the town until September 7.

Initiated by the Ortigas Foundation Inc. (OFI), its run in the provinces of Bohol
and Cebu is hosted by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) in partnership with
the Archdiocese of Cebu, the Parish of the Assumption of Our Lady in Dauis, the local
government unit of Maribojoc, and the University of Bohol.

The traveling exhibit presents more than 50 heritage churches from different parts
of the Philippines built during the Spanish period.

Maribojoc Mayor Leoncio Evasco Jr.; Beatriz Lalana, administrative officer of
OFI; and Dr. Jocelyn Gerra, executive director of RAFI Culture & Heritage gave remarks
during the brief opening program.

According to Gerra, like Dauis, Maribojoc was a priority destination for the exhibit
because of its beautiful coral stone church.

“RAFI is quite pleased with the warm reception that Boholono institutions gave to
the traveling exhibit. We are definitely expecting more people to come visit the exhibit
here in Maribojoc,” she said.

Florencio Moreño II, curator of RAFI Casa Gorordo Museum, who oversaw the
mounting of the exhibit, said that the exhibit will go next to  Maasin City in Southern
Leyte.

“Through the traveling exhibit, we have brought attention the cultural value of our
churches to as many people as possible,” he added.

Culture & Heritage, one of the focus areas of RAFI, aims to help communities
understand, value, and share their cultural identity with others. Other focus areas of
RAFI are Integrated Development, Micro-finance & Entrepreneurship, Leadership &
Citizenship, and Education.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
