Cheraw dance of Mizoram
« on: September 06, 2015, 05:37:17 PM »

Cheraw: Cheraw is a very old traditional dance of the Mizos. It is believed that the dance had already existed way back in the 1st Century A.D., while the Mizos were still somewhere in the Yunan Province of China, before their migration into the Chin Hills in the 13th Century A.D., and eventually to the present Mizoram. Some of the tribes living in South East Asia have similar dances in one form or the other with different names. -- http://www.mizoram.nic.in/

Perhaps Cambodia's Robam Kom Araek is closer to our Tinikling.

But I don't know what to think of the following (awfully written and devoid of citation) Wiki entry:

Robam Kom Araek - a dance mainly used two or three bamboo pole which hitting every second. It is reported that the dance came from Kuy people but it is more believed that the birthplace is Philippines during the reign of King Norodom (1834-1904) when he was traveling in Philippines.

:P

bilib gyod hinoon ko sa pangarisgar ni ondoy o inday ba kaha (kun lgbt, onda, okay?). his spirit is willing; his flesh more willing.

sayon ra sabton and iyang historical thesis...

it's a cambodian (Kampuchea) family name, as in King Norodom Sihanouk and Prince Norodom Rannaridh.
