It's shocking that Japan tops the list of victims, consisting of 32% of all cases. You would think it's the Middle East, or some 1st-world-wannabe country in Asia. But most unexplained deaths occur right here, in the 5th safest country in the world.

I think they all died in the same household, which is what frequently happens here when one or both of the adults decide they've had enough of the world, kill the children and commit suicide. Kinsa'y muatiman nila?"

the japan incident just recently happened. the japanese husband killed his wife and son then committed suicide after. in his suicide note, he killed his wife and son because he's afraid they will leave him because he's already broke.

japanese are known in the world to commt suicides. they call it harakiri. it's some sort of a ritual whom they believe will save their honor and dignity as a person. this practice has been done for ages dating back from the ancient japan.

It's a strange practice. Sometimes two lovers, when opposed by parents or social norms, commit shinju or double suicide. Sometimes, the entire family commits to a suicide pact called ikka shinju. When one person kills all the family members before killing himself, the Japanese still call it "forced suicide" (muri shinju) instead of plain homicide. The deaths of the Filipinos that have the same surnames above may have been classified as such.

i think you are right. instead of allowing his wife and son to leave him, he did what he think the best. in filipino culture, that's savagery.

Usa sa atong famous expression "Naa pay ugma" or "mura man kag wa nay ugma". Mao nga dili ta mga paranoid ug dili ta worried sa future and this is a very brave statement. Ug kung naay dautan nga mo dangat, mo ingon lang sab ug "unsaon man, mao may pad or kapalaran", so andam ta, prepared ta, brave ta nga mo dawat sa atong fate.

Ilang gi sacrifice ang precious time which is intended to enjoy life itself.

Indeed why can't we ever get the best of all worlds? Kung malipayon ta, nganong mulangyaw pa man ta sa laing nasod?

There's another aspect to these statistics, as far as Japan is concerned. The Japanese police will always try to register "suspicious death" as natural r accidental death, unless proven otherwise in court, because they want to maintain their low-crime statistics. Even the celebrated Maricris Sioson case, in which the corpse obviously bore a lot of trauma, was registered as natural or accidental death, prompting her family to call for diplomatic protest.

But Japan really can't doctor reality. They may have low homicide on paper, but their number of suicides is almost the same as that of India's number of homicides, the worst in the world.

You probably mean the lady in this photo, former Bagets actress Jobelle Salvador. She called me up yesterday to inform me about the news feature being made on her by ABS-CBN's TV Patrol. According to her, more than 40% of Filipinas in Japan have serious problems with their husbands, families, finances, and life in general. She knows because she had been there before. And she's a beautiful story of survival. I wrote this feature on her sometime back.

yeah, that's her. i didn't know it was jobelle salvador. thanks.

"In" kaayo ni si Jobelle sa mga Bisdak sa Japan, bisag Filam ni siya. In fact, the photo above was taken during a Bisdak EB more than a year ago of a Filipino forum in Japan held in Kawasaki City. I invited her to the party which she regaled with songs for free, to the delight of Bisdaks. I met a Boholana there named Hana (to her right), and May from CDO (to her left) and many others from Cebu. Jobelle has espoused this new cause of protecting women against domestic violence, abuse at work, and self-destructive behavior after a Tokyo district court recently decided in her favor in a suit she filed for child alimony and financial support from her estranged common-law husband.

Here are some of the Bisdaks at the EB...
