Calayan couple faces P26M suit over cosmetic surgery (4:45 p.m.)
MANILA -- A naturalized American citizen has filed a P26-million suit against cosmetic surgeons Manny and Pie Calayan before the Makati City Prosecutor's Office (MCPO) over a phalloplasty surgery that appeared to have gone awry.
Louem Martinez, 34, currently engaged to a Filipina, complained that he is now "physically incapacitated" and "mentally devastated" as he could no longer perform sexual acts because of constant pain in his deformed sexual organ and scrotum.
Aside from the civil damages, Martinez also filed criminal cases of reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injury and obstruction of justice against the Calayan couple, who owns and operates the Calayan Surgicenter in Legaspi Village, Makati.
In his complaint before Assistant City Prosecutor Dennis Raja, Martinez said he was working in the US when he got to know the Calayan Surgicenter through its website last year.
He then got interested in the "Penile Enlargement/Thickening and Lengthening Services" the Calayans were offering, so he went to Manila in March last year to check it out.
During personal consultations with Manny, Martinez said the surgeon assured him of his expertise in such operation, which he boasted to have been performing at the rate of two operations per month with the use of a chemical called aqua gel.
Further, Manny told Martinez that his "penis enlargement/widening" operation would enlarge, widen and lengthen the penis without any deformity, sagging, bumps and without any side effect. (AH/Sunnex)
