1. You have a long debate with your law friend about who the hottest High Court justice is.

2. You can name without hesitation your favourite brand of pens, highlighters and post-its.

3. You get formatting envy when a friend hands in an assignment thatâ€™s more beautifully formatted than your own.

4. You frequently hear the phrase â€œalternate law careers,â€ but still donâ€™t know much about them, or anyone thatâ€™s chosen one. Isnâ€™t it just when someone decides to work at a mid-tier firm?

5. Come exam time you find yourself feeling incredibly frustrated by the amount of study time you lose to mundane yet essential tasks like eating, sleeping and showering. So you get creative. You eat while you walk to the exam. You stick notes to the outside of the shower screen and read while you wash your hair. You listen to lecture tapes while you sleep.

6. Every taxi driver you encounter has a legal problem.

7. You consider getting a job at your university bookshop just so you can get the tiny staff discount on your next textbook bill.

8. You get a legal job so that you can claim your textbook expenses as a tax deduction.

9. You begin to get an inkling of what hell might be like. You think itâ€™s probably somewhat akin to your administrative law lecture, and you wouldnâ€™t be surprised if your subject coordinator turned out to be the devil.

10. Despite several years at uni, you still believe that you can make up for an entire semester of study neglect and read a 500 page text book in 2 days.

11. You consider training yourself to be able to write with both hands in the hope that in an exam you can write two essays at once.

12. You get a distinction in your Equity subject. You have no idea how this happened. You also have no idea what Equity is.

13. Your textbooks are so expensive that you calculate that each page is worth 31 cents. This still wonâ€™t motivate you to read it.

14. You no longer laugh at the phrase â€œpro bono.â€
