I'm having a research/market study about "bagol consumption of calamay makers in jagna"
I just wanted to know about the calamay makers' preference of cocoshell/bagol.
what are the process in cleaning the bagol. are there existing suppliers.
anything that you think would help in my topic please.

i also wanted to know why they are using the red ribbon/paper in the packaging of kalamay?

your questions can only be answered by calamay makers themselves. it would be a good idea if you go to jagna and interview the folks engaged in this business.

bagol for calamay is the most practical and environment-friendly packaging for calamay since its inception due to the ff considerations: 1. bagol is available being the waste material of sunob/tuno/gata being the primary component of making calamay; 2. there were no plastic packaging materials at that time; 3. extensive use of bagol in the kitchen, as substitute for jahong/soup bowl, glass for drinking 1 bowl of bahal that is called "hungot" and there is "luwag"/ladle made of bagol; 4. bagol's aesthetic design is the most logical container for a calamay so that it will not spill-over

nowadays, bagol for calamay is being sourced primarily in misamis oriental or caraga region because one time i saw sacks of bagol unloaded from a boat arriving from butuan. why? it's not the size of bagol which was surmised in a previous thread, simply because of supply. we don't have the volume of bagol in jagna or in its neighboring towns or simply bohol province. why? boholanos do not utilize the full economic potential of the coconut when making copra, we simply break the whole coconut with an axe (batakon then lugion) but in mindanao buntan ang lubi unya ganggangon sugnuran sa bunot ug ang bagol ulingon (sorry gamay ra akong bawon iningles).
